The Pelikan M1000 Raden Stardust “Hoshikuzu” is a limited edition fountain pen that represents a remarkable meeting between Pelikan’s German craftsmanship and the refined decorative techniques of Japanese tradition. The M1000 Stardust “Hoshikuzu” is a poetic tribute to stardust scattered across a midnight sky, a vision brought to life by the renowned artist Yamazaki Mushu and his collective, “Hoshu-kai”, a revered group of Kaga maki-e masters based in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Crafted using the ancient Raden technique, this masterpiece begins with a smooth coat of deep black Japanese lacquer, called Urushi, echoing the depth of the cosmos. Then, three types of finely crushed abalone shell are meticulously arranged into vertical stripes using a traditional Funzutsu (powder tube). As the light catches the surface, an iridescent shimmer dances across the pen?: hues of violet, blue, green, and silver icker like distant stars. The delicate Raden is encased in layers of clear lacquer, polished and refined over time to produce a lustrous, glassy finish. Each M1000 Stardust is individually signed by the artist and features a limited-edition number applied with the maki-e technique.
